JUSTYN JURKIEWICZ Peacefully, on Thursday, November 24, 2005, Justyn, beloved husband of Maria (Juba), passed away at Seven Oaks Hospital at the age of 88 years. He was predeceased by his two brothers and two sisters. Justyn was born in Poland on October 20, 1917. He grew up on a farm and worked very hard as a young man. He became a soldier for the Polish Army in 1930 and was taken prisoner in 1939. When he was released and the war was over, he worked on farms in Germany and this is where he met Maria. They returned to Poland and were married in 1946. They both worked on farms until they moved to Canada in 1960. Justyn saw many countries and hard times in his life, but took pride of being a Canadian citizen, and claimed, It was the best country to live in. They resided in Winnipeg and bought their first house on Rupertsland. Justyn worked for the City of Winnipeg on street construction until 1980. Upon his retirement he liked to take bike rides with Maria and would watch her work in the garden. He was very proud of their garden and the tree that they planted as a sapling in their front yard, now towers over their house. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 30 at 2:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Interment to follow in Holy Ghost Cemetery.
